I pretty much knew I wouldn’t do anything good artistically in my entire life when I got my first crusty set of watercolors as a little guy. I bet a lot of people have this experience. Of course, there’s people like Will Kim, who take simple watercolors and make something gorgeous and revelatory. I bet he really would have appreciated those watercolors that I pretended were nunchuks.
More on the talented Kim:
Will Kim is currently a M.F.A. student in the Animation Dept. at UCLA and has graduated from Character Animation Dept.(B.F.A.), Cal Arts in May 2007.
His strength is in watercolor animation and watercolor painting. Will has produced and directed 4 major watercolor, hand painted animations throughout his undergrad career at Cal Arts. [He] also works with different mediums such as soft and oil pastels, pencils, pen & inks, and markers. [He has been selected] for International Film Festivals and has done animation and special effects for the concert stage, as well as illustration for a children’s book.
